Cu Chi Tunnels

The Cu Chi tunnels were used during the war as an extensive network to hide from their enemies. They made the tunnels a bit wider for the tourists to make them feel what it is like to crawl through tunnels and sit in them. Take a guide or go alone. The advantage of a guide is that he can give information.

Notre Dame Cathedral

The famous cathedral was built by the French colonist between 1863 and 1880. It is a very popular sight of Ho Chi Minh because the building consists of materials imported exclusively from France. The beautiful architecture makes it a very popular place for couples to take their pre-married pictures.

Quan Am Pagoda

A very popular pagoda among Vietnamese and Chinese Buddhists. It is dedicated to the Chinese goddess of mercy Guanyin and built in the late 19th century. With many traditional Chinese inscriptions, ceramics and a decorated roof it is a gorgeous colourful pagoda. It is split into two parts by a street running through it what makes the pagoda special.

Botanical Gardens and zoo

This garden and zoo is considered the largest and 8th oldest botanical garden and zoo in the Vietnam. There are more than 550 animals such as lions, snakes, white tigers, monkeys and elephants. Keep in mind that you are in Vietnam and that the zoo is in a different condition. 1,830 trees and 260 plant species with some more than 100 years old. It a very impressive and enjoyable place to be and kids love this place. Next to the gardens is the History Museum located.

War Remnants Museum

This museum represents the effects of the 30 years during the war between Vietnam and America. It shows the evidence of the crime and the consequences of the war, such as photographs, films, artefacts, materials, etc. Outside is a helicopter with rocket launchers, a tank, a one-seater attack plane and a fighter plane based. This museum is a shocking memory of the Vietnam War.

Opening hours: 07:00 to 12:00 and 13:30 to 17:00

Reunification Palace

Before the palace was a museum, it was the base of the Vietnamese general Ngo Dinh Diem and also the workplace and home of the French governor of Cochin-China. In 1975, a tank of North Vietnam crashed through the gates of the palace to end the war in Vietnam. Nowadays it functions as a museum where you can take a look at the palace. Check the tunnels, war chamber, original maps and other equipment of the war. The palace is renovated a lot, but still unchanged comparing to the original layout.

Binh Tay Market

This market is the biggest in Ho Chi Minh and a typical local market where you can experience the real culture. It serves almost everything where you can think of and there are many food stalls where you can get breakfast, lunch and snacks. The building was built by the French in the 1880s.

Cao Dai Temple

The Cao Dai faith is a religion with a bit of Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Christianity and Confucianism. Visit the temple to learn more about Cao Dai and how its followers practice the religion. The temple itself is decorated with dragons and very colorful.

Opening hours: 06:00 to 17:00

Jade Emperor Pagoda

A 100 year-old pagoda, built in 1909 by a community of Cantonese. It is a very popular pagoda and seen as a paradise including Buddha sculptures, artful carved figures, robed monks and aromatic incense smoke. Many locals come here to pray and to make offers of flowers. It is very a very living pagoda full of flowers, joss sticks and light candles.
