Da Lat local foods
- Banh Trang Kep (grilled rice paper with egg)
A famous snack at the streets in Da Lat. Some people call it a Vietnamese pizza because of the shape. It is easy to cook with simple ingredients, but the taste is extremely amazing. They start with putting the rice paper on a stove and apply oil with chopped green onion. After that, they add egg, dried tiny shrimps and minced pork until has a yellow look. If you want, you can add chili sauce to make it spicy. Where? Da Lat night market, Mrs.Hoa at 56 Thong Thien Hoc Street and 61 Nguyen Van Troi Street.
- Banh Can (small round rice pancake)
A dish, which is not official from Da Lat, but it’s definitely a favorite with the locals. This cake is made of pure rice with spring onion as filling. Cooked in a small earthenware pot without oil. They serve it with fish sauce, meatballs and crackers on top.
- Kem bo (avocado ice cream)Ice cream with a unforgettable taste you need to try. It has the perfect combination of white ice cream and soft greasy grinded avocado. Just mix these two together for the perfect taste. Topped with some dried coconut. Try it at the late night market in Da Lat.
- Xap XapA salad made from the finely sliced young papaya, dried beef, beef liver cooked with 5 tastes, creating a golden brown color and served with basil. Topped with mint leaves peanuts and sweet & sour fish sauce. The tamarind broth juice with moderate acidity makes the dish different from other regions.You can find vendors around Xuan Huong Lake, on Hoang Dieu Street or at Yersin park.
- Banh Uot Long Ga (thin rice flour pancake with stir-fried chicken)The best combination between stir-fried chicken and thin rice flour pancakes. By mixing these two, you create a maximum tasteYou can eat this for example at 47 Tang Bat Ho Street.
- Banh Mi Xiu Mai (bread with meatballs soup)This is a dish that makes people in many other provinces crazy. The meatballs are made of ground pork mixed with cat ear mushroom, garlic, minced onion and spices. After that, they will be boiled in broth with ground tomato. You can try this dish at Hoang Dieu Street.
- Nem nuong (grilled pork roll)
You can enjoy this dish whenever you want. As a snack, appetizer or with rice or noodles. The grilled pork is heavily marinated in a paste made with sugar, black pepper and garlic. After that they are wrapped around bamboo and grilled until it’s well cooked. Served with a platter of fresh herbs, pickled vegetables and rice paper to wrap all the ingredients together.
